Thank you to Florentine Pfeiffer and the Gridmetry team for the invitation, and to Thomas Schoenemeyer (NVIDIA), David Hughes (Stelia) and Aaron Höhnberg (Gridmetry) for a rich and very concrete exchange.
My three takeaways from the CloudGrid Energy side:
→ The scarce resource in Europe is no longer the GPU, it's the grid connection point. A new one takes years. Thousands of sites already have one: solar and wind parks, EV charging hubs, industrial brownfields.
→ Inference changes where we build. Unlike training, it can be split into 100-400 kW blocks, orchestrated as one cloud, and placed where the energy and the grid capacity already are.
→ Fibre is the real bottleneck. The best energy sites are rural. Energy planning and telecom planning have to go hand in hand.
At CloudGrid Energy, as an independent power producer, our approach is simple: bring compute to available energy, not the other way round.
Looking forward to continuing the conversation.
